Perpignan's Markets
Perpignan’s Food & Antique Markets and When They’re On
Perpignan is well known for its vibrant markets from daily produce stalls to weekly flea markets and they’re a vital part of local life rather than just tourist attractions. In this guide, I’ll cover the main food and non-food markets, when they happen and what to expect.
Perpignan Food Market - Place de la République & Place des Poilus Market
(Tuesday to Sunday Mornings)
Located in the heart of Perpignan’s historic centre, the twin-market of Place de la République and Place des Poilus is a must-visit for anyone seeking fresh regional products.
Every Tuesday through Sunday morning (7:30 AM – 1:00 PM), these adjoining squares come alive with stalls overflowing with seasonal fruits and vegetables, reflecting the rich agriculture of the Pyrénées-Oriental.
You’ll find farmers selling sun-ripened tomatoes, peppers, melons, and more, alongside vendors offering olives, artisanal cheeses, and freshly baked bread. The atmosphere here is convivial yet a bit calmer than the city’s other big market (Cassanyes), making it an enjoyable place to wander and chat with local producers.
One special feature of the République/Poilus market is its organic produce section on Saturday mornings. Each Saturday, additional stands join in to offer certified organic fruits and veggies, eggs and honey.
Perpignan Food & Clothing Market - Marché Cassanyes
(Tuesday to Sunday Mornings)
In the Saint-Jacques district just north of the old centre, Marché Cassanyes happens every morning except Monday (approximately 7:30 AM – 1:00 PM) and is one of the largest and most vibrant markets in the city and sprawls across Place Cassanyes and the surrounding streets.
You can find almost anything at Marché Cassanyes from farm-fresh produce to clothing including tomatoes and peaches from local growers, North African spices, inexpensive textiles, shoes, kitchenware and much more. It’s a one-stop shop that serves Perpignan’s diverse community, which is reflected in the mix of vendors and goods.
Perpignan Food Market - Les Halles Vauban
(Tuesday to Sunday All Day)
Les Halles Vauban, Perpignan’s covered market hall is housed in a refurbished historic building on Quai Vauban and has quickly become a gastronomic hotspot since opening in late 2017.
Inside Les Halles Vauban, you’ll find over twenty artisan vendors offering everything from traditional market fare including butchers with local cuts of meat, fishmongers with the day’s catch, cheesemongers and bakers.
Many stalls double as eateries, so you can grab tapas or oysters with a glass of Roussillon wine, enjoy a Vietnamese noodle bowl or people-watch from the central bar. Les Halles draws an upbeat and trendy evening crowd as well, so don’t miss it if you’re a foodie looking to experience Perpignan’s contemporary food culture.
Perpignan Food Market - Marché des Producteurs Locaux
(Sundays)
Perpignan has recently introduced a dedicated local farmers’ market to showcase the area’s producers. The Marché des Producteurs Locaux takes place every Sunday morning from around 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM in the city’s south end (Quartier Moulin-à-Vent), specifically along Avenue Paul Alduy near the entrance to the Parc des Sports stadium.
It’s essentially a farmers’ market of around 20 producers offering a seasonal selection of fruits and vegetables (think heirloom tomatoes, peppers, apricots and more depending on the time of year), farm-raised meats and sausages, artisanal cheeses, fresh bread and honey, vinegars and olive oil.

Flea, Antique & Artisan Markets in Perpignan
Perpignan Flea Market - Marché aux Puces
(Sundays)
Perpignan’s Marché aux Puces runs every Sunday from around 7:00 AM until early afternoon in the parking areas around the Palais des Expositions and attracts a mix of professional vendors and locals clearing out their attics.
As you stroll through the rows of stalls, you’ll encounter an eclectic assortment of goods: old furniture, vintage decor, collectibles, vinyl records, books, clothing, toys, kitchenware and plenty of random curiosities. In many ways, it’s a true Aladdin’s cave and each stand might hold a surprise from a retro lamp to a rare coin or a stack of 1960s magazines.
Perpignan Antique Market - Allées Maillol Antiques Market
(Saturdays)
Every Saturday, Perpignan holds an antique and brocante market along the Allées Maillol, a pleasant tree-lined avenue in front of the Palais des Congrès (Conference Center) from 7:00 AM to 4:00pm.
Here you’ll find professional antique dealer selling quality vintage and antique items including furniture from farmhouse tables to Art Deco pieces, old paintings and engravings, lamps and chandeliers, porcelain and glassware, vintage jewellery and coins.
Perpignan Quai Vauban Book Market
(Wednesdays)
Perpignan even has a weekly old book market every Wednesday along the scenic Quai Vauban by the river with a row of booksellers setting up tables for the Marché aux Livres Anciens.
The book market runs roughly 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Wednesdays and here you can find second-hand and antiquarian books, leather-bound classics in French, vintage comic books, history and art books, old postcards and posters and sometimes even rare first editions for collectors.
